Valorization of Biomass Residues by Biosorption of Microelements in a Closed-Loop Cycle

Abstract The concept of the research data presented assumes valorization goldenrod residues from supercritical CO 2 extraction following circular economy principles. biomass was enriched with microelements (Cr, Zn, Cu) by biosorption single and multielemental solutions in batch packed bed reactors. Modeling equilibrium supported instrumental analysis (SEM FTIR) material properties employed to explain metal ions binding mechanism. preferential Cr(III) over divalent ions, allows possibility residue a garden-scale tank acting as fixed-bed reactor working an open circulation run fed diluted rainwater. use fertigation solution optimal doses micronutrients did not show any phytotoxic effect. Using post-sorptive source for plants showed significant effects on growth parameters (increased chlorophyll content 54%) compared groups fertilized commercial formulation (13% higher sprout mass). Additionally, post-sorption leads biofortification cucumber sprouts. recycling process results two products: potential feed additive (with Cr(III), Cu(II), Zn(II)) Zn(II) Cu(II) only) used plants.
